A Baby Shower for the World Traveler

Today I am delighted to share this simply adorable baby shower in honor of Maria of Studio Sister Photography given by her sister Missy. With the help of some amazing vendors, Missy was able to incorporate her sister's love of photography and her sailor husband to create a fun and modern World Traveler Baby Shower. She graciously agreed to take us through the planning process and share the details of just how everything came together for this special occasion...

{For the venue, the shower was held at The Space at LoHi in Lower Highlands neighborhood of Denver. It is a space that 3 photographers use to collaborate and rent out the space for events, such as ours. It has great sun light and bright crisp walls, making it an inviting and cheery setting for a party! Dawn and Pam with D&P Celebrations were the masterminds behind being handed this idea and really turning the finished product into something beautiful, unique, and modern! These lovely ladies designed and sent out the invitations and provided ALL the festive decorations and paper goods for the shower; including colored poms, ‘World Traveler’ banner, table centerpieces, and menu cards for the food table.

I decided on the menu and had tons of help the morning of! The food served at the shower was Bacon and Gruyere Mac & Cheese, Hawaiian Chicken Salad w/ Lettuce Wraps, Wheat Berry Salad w/ Tomatoes and Avocadoes, Greek Salad w/ Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Feta Cheese, Kalamata Olives, and Garbanzos, Caprese Crostinis.

The absolutely brilliant cake was made by Renee from Astonishing Cakes. She collaborated with D&P Celebrations to grasp the concept and was able to turn out this beautiful and delicious 3 tiered cake! The cake had two wonderfully delectable and original flavors: Spiced Chai with Salted Carmel Icing and Mocha Latte with Buttercream Icing.

For entertainment for the party, we opted for one traditional game and a few more ‘fun and different’ games. The first game (traditional) was ‘Baby Word Scramble’, just a fun little unscrambling of baby words. Fun but some were also quite hard to figure out! Next, we had a taken a queue from a great website that offered some newer options for baby games, and did a ‘Baby Face’ game. For this game, I had taken head shots of both Maria and Marty, cut the pictures apart, and then had guests make their own version of what the couples baby would look like! Hysterical results!

The lyric prints that were framed on the wall were created by Samantha of Papermints.

As for favors, I had done a few useful and delicious gifts. I had made the oh-so-popular elastic ribbon hair ties for all the guests in teal, yellow, and white – matching the color scheme.  A basket filled with funky nail polish to have guests choose their own was another favor. And lastly, some yummy petite Meringues for the sweet tooth. All the favors were placed in custom yellow chevron gift boxes with accompanying gift tags; more great paper goods by D&P Celebrations

The shower was far beyond Maria’s expectations! All the people who are so important in Maria’s life were there to celebrate this amazing new journey with her. Even one of her best friends had surprised her, which of course resulted in some tears! She is an extremely special woman and deserves all the love she is given. It was such a wonderful and joyous event! I am so proud to have been a part of it and to have collaborated with the fabulous vendors! - Missy}
